my list of projects + wedding ceremony recap

I am in total project mode, and I don't see that stopping any time soon! I've been saving Pinterest project for this house since before the house even existed. Of course getting wedding presents inspires you to revamp and start fresh. And of course moving into a new home, we've discovered more to-do's that I'd never even thought about. In the next week or two I plan to tackle

craft a front door wreath

make a ticket stub shadow box

curtains, curtains, and more curtains. specifically for my office.

selecting the wedding photos we want printed

begin to plan gallery wall for downstairs

Wish me luck. I'll hopefully have at least a couple of these done by next weekend?

Now, more importantly, our wedding ceremony! If you missed it, I already posted about the rehearsal dinner and getting ready.

Our ceremony was absolutely, 100% perfect. The church was beautiful and everything a church should be on a wedding day- in my opinion at least. The stained glass windows and the marble make you feel like you're somewhere sacred and special. All of the beautiful flowers didn't hurt either. I could go on and on about how gorgeous St. Gertrude is, but I'll let the pictures speak for themselves!

The ceremony is one of the main reasons we got a videographer. Video trailer coming to the blog soon by the way! But as the bride, you really don't get to see much of this part. While everyone else was starting the most important ceremony of my life, I was standing outside the church, trying to pray and collect myself. Truthfully, I wasn't nervous at all. I didn't think I was going to fall or mess up my vows. And if I had, I wouldn't of cared one little bit. The few minutes I waited outside we're probably the most sureall moments of my entire life. It was the only time the whole day where I was alone to think and really let it sink in what was about to happen. Our church was on a fairly busy street, and I got lots of honks and cheers from the passing cars. It was a really special few minutes that I don't think I'll soon forget.

The rest of the ceremony went on as planned, then we did some family and wedding party pictures. After about seven million pictures and my smile had turned to a permanent cramp on my face, the whole wedding party and their dates took a party bus to the reception. If I could do it over, I'd make this part of the day last a lot longer. The bus was a blast!

And then there was Wi Fi

It feels good to be back on the Mac Book :) Unfortunately I've yet to have the time or energy to sit down and write a really good wedding ceremony and reception recap. I also haven't had time to upload pics, so Instagram shots will have to do. I hope the mood to write strikes me soon, because I've got a lot to cover!

A few realizations/lessons I've stumbled upon in the past week:

1. My puppies do NOT like the sound of the garage door opening. Or the gigantic dogs in houses with invisible fences that look like they're going to attack you. But they seem to like everything else about the burbs!


2.Having a garage, a flat yard, and a quite street is 100 times better than living in the city. So many people told us we were crazy for leaving our house near downtown, but it was the best decision we could have made!

3. Getting married, honeymooning, moving, and decorating (starting to decorate) a new house all in a matter of two weeks is insane. It's been the most amazing two weeks of my life hands down, but insane none the less.

4. KitchenAid mixers and cake stands make every trip to the kitchen so much better.




5.This place is all it's cracked up to be and more.

Our Wedding: Getting Ready

Getting ready was one of my favorite part's of our wedding day. I put a lot of time and effort into selecting the hair and makeup vendors, scheduling everyone, etc., because I knew this could make or break how the rest of the day went. I know if I have a bad morning, feel like my hair and makeup don't look good, or feel rushed, it ruins my entire day. I doubt anything could have ruined that day for me, but I wanted my bridal party to feel relaxed, pampered, and as pretty as I did!

We got up bright and early at 8:00am to start getting ready. My wonderful in-laws set up their sun room with plenty of tables and seating so everyone could eat breakfast together and watch each other have our hair and makeup done. Shorty after the adult bridesmaids got started, my Mom and sisters, SIL and niece, and our flower girl and her Mom (Will's cousin) arrived. It's been a long time since I was in a house full of girls, and I loved every second! Seeing my sisters run and play with Will's family was also by far one of my favorite wedding day experiences.

We were making such good time I waited till last to get my hair and makeup done, which I've heard is a big don't... but it worked well for me.

By the time 12:30 rolled around and everyone needed to get dressed, things got a little caotic. Between stuck zippers, clasps, and everyone trying to get their things together, things got a little crazy. Not to mention the one million buttons on my dress. Once we were all dressed though, our pictures taking went smoothly.

I had a mild freak out when the limo arrived and I realized I didn't have my "day of" bag packed- but as soon as that was resolved, we were off to the reception!

 

 

I hope to post tomorrow and this weekend about the ceremony and reception. Then next week about the honeymoon, closing on the house, and the big move! Tons to write about on this little blog in the near future :)
