this and that

You guys. I feel like I've been living under a rock for the last week, but I didn't hate it. I took a little break from blogging, tried to stay off social media, and give my bran a break. I am well aware that what we consume on tv and the internet has a way of creeping into our "real" lives, and I just needed to purge myself of all that for a few days. It felt good, but I'm glad to be back. I'm just one of those people who loves media, and I probably always will be. #sorrynotsorry. Anyway, here's what's been up in my hood.

I read a book!

It has been so long since a read an actual book (paper, not on my phone), and it was as glorious as I remember it being. I used to read literally dozens of books a year when I was a kid, and even in college, but lately the only thing I've had time for is baby books and magazines. I chose "All We Ever Wanted Was Everything", and I'd definitely recommend it. I didn't love the ending, but I usually don't love the endings of books, mostly because I don't want them to end at all. This strikes me as something that would make a good movie, and as often as books are becoming films these days, I wouldn't be surprised if it happens. That reminds me of this list, and another one here, that I pinned a while back. Must refer back to it. I will say, I tend to get so into books that I neglect other things I should be doing, so I won't start another one until maybe next week. I did join Good Reads to help me keep up with this little habit. I think this site is awesome and I'm excited to start using it (my profile here).

Hibernation Issues

I love being at home, but I started losing my mind a little on Wednesday, and it made me realize I hadn't left the house since Saturday! Not normal, especially for me. Not normal at all. I absolutely need to make sure to schedule a few errands a week for myself because I was really starting to go stir crazy. To remedy that little issue Norah and I went to the library and grocery store yesterday. The grocery is pretty much the grocery, but the library was pretty fun. I actually got a library card, and look forward to many trips there with N in the future. There were a surprising amount of good series on DVD you can rent, so that's added to my list of things to do when those times of year roll around when all the good shows are on hiatus.

Sleep? What's sleep?

The real reason I was probably going crazy this week is the "4 month sleep regression". At this point I don't know if it's that, or just all around crappy sleeping on our little person's part. But whatever it is, it sucks. Big time. I read something once about a parent wanted to tape a pacifier to their kids mouth (not actually wanting to, but figuratively), and I didn't get it. Lets just say, now I get it. I haven't had a full nights sleep since July (JULY!), and it's only getting worse. I have just resigned that I will never ever be well rested again, so if it ever does happen, it will be a pleasant surprise. Every parent whose kid sleeps through the night by now, I am so, so jealous of you. One can dream. She's lucky she's cute.

Bargains and Buyouts

My trip to Bargains and Buyouts was a success! I only had about an hour to spend there, but I plan to go back when I can look through every single item in more detail. I did snag two console tables. One is in our dining space and one in the laundry/craft room. I would compare them to our entry way table as far as size and quality goes, and I got them both combined for LESS that I paid for the one entry table. I forget the retail price, but they were marked down to $69 a piece, and he gave me both for $100. They match our dining furniture perfectly, but I will probably paint the craft room one a fun color when the weather warms up.

BFF Time

Last Saturday I got together for dinner and hang out time with my best friends. As usual, it was a blast. I was bummed to have to leave the party early, but as mentioned, I need all the sleep I can get. We hadn't all been together since July, so it was great to catch up with them and see what everyone's been up to. We played Cards Against Humanity, had a yummy dinner, and chatted about everything under the sun. Love my friends!

And that's all she wrote. Time to meal plan. How is it possible I grocery shopped yesterday yet have no idea what I could make for dinner tonight? The never-ending struggle. TGIF!

I love reading it's so relaxing! I make it a priority to read to my kids every night and then at least 30 minutes of an adult book for myself. It's a great escape from reality and a lovely way unwind for a peaceful sleep. Here's to hoping your little lady will start back sleeping through the night soon!

If she's 4 months, she could be entering the teething stage. If so, then there will be more sleepless nights yet to come. Hugs!
